I’m always excited when Don’t Blink families choose a maternity session add on! Even better when Mom is up for any wardrobe ideas I bring to the table! I try to keep my maternity style natural, soft and magical… Olivia was all of this and more!
You know, this day & age it’s a challenge to keep wonder & innocence in children above the age of 5. But to me, it’s SO important! I want my guys to see the whimsy & magic in everyday. We talk about the colors of a morning sunrise, pick out clouds shaped like animals or even the occasional race car 😉 They still play pirates, superheroes and of course dirt bike super star ( I would cringe to hear my mom say that BTW!) I started this whole crazy photography journey because of these guys and the way they saw the world. I forgot along the way to capture things that way. But happily, I’ve remembered. I imagine the epiphany going something like the movie Hook where the little boy looked into Peter Pan’s eyes & pulled his face around saying “Oh THERE you are Peter!” …”oh there you are Candice!”
I’m excited to capture my children this way, it will remind me when I’m old and gray that they were full of magic & wonder and our everyday was filled with as much of it as possible too!
My little Peter Pan ❤
Out in the middle of (seemingly) nowhere, there is a farm aptly named Eubanks Farm, home of Crystal & Arnett Eubanks. It was Arnett’s childhood home and a little bit magical if you ask me, tucked under the shade of ancient Pecan trees, in the middle of sprawling farmland. Honestly, a child’s wonderland especially if you ask their 3 yr old son Zeke. I was invited there a few weeks back to visit & take some family pictures. Along with Zeke, they have a beautiful baby girl Nema (n-EH-ma). This was probably the most chill family/child session I have EVER encountered. While big brother ran circles around us all, Mom & I chatted about parenthood, family history, and their 3 yr stay in Africa (yes… this is where Zeke was born). She never batted an eyelash when Zeke came barreling over to “help” with Nema’s part of the session which definitely added to the “chill” atmosphere. Crystal was the poster mom for tolerance & patience 🙂 I adored every moment of my time there with this special family… You can learn more about this family & the time they spent in Africa on their blog here.
